Nail-biting moment Chinese toddler falls from family’s van onto motorway

Young boy survived the fall in east China’s Jiangsu Province

This was the nail-biting moment a toddler fell from a family’s van as it travelled along a motorway in east China.

The young boy tumbled out of the boot of the vehicle when its back door became loose and landed in the middle of the road in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province.

But incredibly, he avoided being hit by the car travelling behind.

Dramatic dash-cam footage showed the child getting to his feet and desperately running after the van.

A person travelling in the car behind was then heard shouting; “There’s a child, my goodness!”

The boy was soon after rescued by the second car’s driver and reunited with his family, Xinhua reported.

His relieved grandfather Yang Defu told the news station the boy had been sitting in the passenger seat before he climbed into the boot of the car and fell out of the door.

Yang is reported to have told his grandson’s rescuers he was “really grateful” for saving the boy from potentially “disastrous consequences”.

The accident last month prompted an outcry from shocked social media users after the video footage was shared on Weibo.

The hashtag #YourKidIsThrownAway began trending as viewers questioned why the boy had not been sitting in a child’s car seat.
