Chinese official applauds Trump family video as positive sign
Finance Vice-Minister Zhu Guangyao praises video of US president-elect’s granddaughter reciting Chinese poetry while warning there would be no winners in a Sino-US trade war
A Chinese official assessing the risks to trade under the incoming US administration cited a Trump family video as a positive sign.
Speaking at a forum in Beijing on Saturday, Vice Finance Minister Zhu Guangyao referred to a video of Arabella Kushner, US President-elect Donald Trump’s granddaughter, reciting Chinese poetry in a performance that was shared on social media in China.
The performance, which was uploaded to the Instagram account of her mother, Ivanka, saw Arabella reciting lines from classical Tang dynasty poems in Putonghua and dressing in a traditional Chinese blouse.
The youngster’s understanding of Chinese culture underscored the strength of the ties between the two nations, Zhu said, adding that China and the US needed to keep moving forward together.
