Rabbit dance goes viral as Chinese Covid-19 volunteers work around the clock amid a new surge

Dubbed the “Great Whites”, volunteer workers dressed in white personal protective equipment (PPE) have come into the spotlight on Chinese social media for doing the so-called rabbit dance. Often working under extreme conditions, workers dance to a cheery tune to start their day as they set out to perform various pandemic work ranging from patrolling neighbourhoods, delivering goods and carrying out Covid-19 tests for residents. China is experiencing its worst wave of coronavirus infections in two years, with cases reported in 17 provinces and four megacities.
