Update | Dozens of Chinese citizens evacuated from Istanbul airport, 80 Hongkongers confirmed safe after Turkey suicide attack

About 90 Chinese citizens have been evacuated from Istanbul’s main international airport after a deadly suicide attack in Turkey, China’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
All were unharmed and there were no reports of injuries, said foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei.
Citing the Chinese embassy, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported on Wednesday night that no Chinese citizens were among the 41 killed in the attack. But Reuters and the Associated Press both cited anonymous Turkish officials as saying there was one Chinese fatality.
Hong said China condemned terrorist attacks against civilians, and called for stronger international efforts to ensure regional security.
“China strongly condemns this terrorist attack, which targets civilians. We resolutely oppose to all kinds of terrorist activities, and call on the international community to strengthen cooperation and coordination to counter terrorism, and to safeguard regional peace and stability,” Hong said.
In Hong Kong, the city’s Travel Industry Council said some 80 Hongkongers had been confirmed safe and unaffected in the attack.
