China considering evacuation plan for citizens in Sudan as fighting continues
- The embassy in Khartoum asked Chinese nationals to register their details and whether they wanted to stay or leave the country
- The head of the Sudan Armed Forces, one of the combatants, has said he is willing to help Chinese and other foreign citizens leave

China is considering evacuating its nationals from Sudan, the country’s embassy in Khartoum has said.
It asked Chinese citizens to fill out a form on its website about whether they wanted to be evacuated and if they wanted to go to China or neighbouring countries by 9pm local time. It had already asked citizens to register their personal details.
At least 413 people, most of whom are civilians, have been killed since fighting between two rival factions – the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) – broke out on April 15 according to the World Health Organization.
As of now there have been no reports of Chinese casualties.
Its rival, the RSF, also said it is coordinating evacuation efforts with the United States. Early on Sunday Washington announced that it had successfully completed an operation to evacuate embassy employees.
