China’s special envoy for Eurasian affairs said it was “rather difficult” to get all parties to sit down at the negotiating table, but a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict was still possible.
Speaking in Beijing on Friday after his 12-day tour of Europe last month, Li Hui told reporters there were still many “uncertainties”, with the war now in its 16th month.

But he said China would be willing to send another delegation in the future.

“To be frank, I feel that as things stand it may be rather difficult for all parties to sit down for fruitful negotiations,” Li said. “But as long as there is a glimmer of hope for peace, we should work actively towards it.

“China is ready to do anything conducive to easing tensions and promoting negotiations,” he added.
