China and Indonesia should advance their strategic partnership, offering each other opportunities for development, Chinese President Xi Jinping told his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo on Thursday.
Welcoming Widodo to the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu in Sichuan province, Xi said the two countries were “like-minded” and “good partners”.
The two leaders are in Chengdu to attend the opening ceremony of the Fisu World University Games on Friday.

“On the road to state modernisation and national rejuvenation, our two countries share highly convergent concepts and serve as each other’s development opportunities,” Xi was quoted by the state broadcaster CCTV as saying.
Widodo’s visit comes in the countdown to the launch of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, which is expected to be up and running next month, seven years after work started.
