Li Qiang and Lee Jae Myung back free trade and multilateralism during Beijing talks
In meeting with visiting South Korean president, Chinese premier calls for cooperation in AI, new energy and high-end manufacturing

Li said China aimed to expand “the breadth and depth of cooperation” to achieve more practical outcomes and was willing to expand market access and integration, according to Beijing’s account of the meeting.
“We stand ready to work together with the Korean side … enhancing strategic communication, consolidating political mutual trust and promoting the continuous forward development of our bilateral relations along the right track,” Li said.
Lee stressed that the “strategic cooperative relationship” between Beijing and Seoul was key for regional peace. He expressed hope that the two countries would expand “horizontal and mutually beneficial cooperation” in turbulent times and work together to promote peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.
He also expressed South Korea’s readiness to strengthen multilateral communication and coordination with China and uphold free trade, according to the Chinese statement.
