Beijing has most wealthy single people in China survey by matchmaking website Zhenai.com

Beijing has the highest number of wealthy single people in a survey carried out by a mainland matchmaking website that has more than 80 million users, The Beijing News reports.

The Zhenai.com survey targeted people that earn at least twice the average wage in their respective cities and found most of these people were born in the 1980s and live in metropolitan cities such as Beijing, Shenzhen and Shanghai.

Beijing came top for the number of single people earning more than 50,000 yuan (HK$62,000) a month, followed by Shenzhen and Shanghai. But the survey did not provide any figures.

Among China’s second-tier cities, Chengdu took the lead for the number of single people with at least 500,000 yuan of savings in the bank account, followed by Chongqing and Nanjing.

Most of the wealthy single men work in the manufacturing, internet and financial industries, while wealthy single women work in finance and education, the survey found.

More than half of the wealthy single people in the survey also said they were “waiting for true love”, while 22.9 per cent said that they were too busy and did not have time for dating.
