A government anti-corruption agency in eastern China has enlisted the help of three of the country’s biggest telecom companies to help track down fugitives who have fled overseas.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said its investigators in Fujian province would formally seek help in its investigations from China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom from this year onwards, an official newspaper affiliated to the agency reported.

The department is seeking 61 fugitives accused of corruption, including state officials and Communist Party members, the report said, and an agent would be assigned to oversee each case.

The province’s anti-corruption investigators have so far tracked down nine fugitives accused of abuse of power, the Zhongguo Jijian Jiancha Bao said.

Hundreds of Communist Party officials have been detained for alleged corruption since President Xi Jinping launched a massive anti-graft campaign after he took power in 2012.
