A long-standing Fujian official is tipped to become the governor of the province, filling the vacancy left by a cadre sacked last month over alleged corruption, sources say.
Yu Weiguo, the present deputy party chief of the coastal province, is expected to be named governor of Fujian, sources with knowledge of the matter say.
"Yu should be our new governor," a source close to the provincial government said . "The announcement is yet to be delivered, but will be very soon."
Yu, 60, is expected to fill the vacancy left by Su Shulin, the former governor who moved to the province from the state-owned oil conglomerate Sinopec in 2011.

Su, 53, was one of the country's youngest governors and was regarded a rising star. He was sacked from the post for alleged corruption last month, 10 days after Beijing's anti-graft chief Wang Qishan visited the province. Su was the first incumbent governor to be investigated in President Xi Jinping's signature anti-graft campaign.
