State news agency Xinhua reported on Tuesday morning that Xi visited Moon Mountain at the Saihanba Mechanical Forest Farm. He was briefed about the Hebei government’s work on “integrated management of the mountain, forest, lake, and sand landscape” and surveyed the forest farm’s management and protection.
After meeting forest rangers, Xi visited a memorial forest commemorating the forest farm’s first party secretary, who spent his life growing trees at the farm. The president also heard the farm management’s report on promotion of the “Saihanba spirit” and its push for “high-quality development”, Xinhua said.
Xi praised the rangers and their “exemplary job” and reiterated that “the Saihanba spirit is an integral part of the party’s spiritual pedigree”.
“The whole party and the people of the whole country must carry forward this spirit and develop a green economy and ecological civilisation,” Xi was quoted by Xinhua as saying.
On Tuesday, Xi visited Chengde, a tourist destination in Hebei province, and inspected the city‘s cultural heritage protection, religious and ethnic affairs and rural revitalisation works.
