Xi Jinping warns China’s road to rejuvenation will not be a ‘walk in the park’
- Chinese leader’s New Year’s Eve message says the country faces a bumpy road ahead, but no obstacle is too big for the Communist Party
- Xi says ‘only through vigorous and determined endeavour can we fulfil our responsibility to history’
“To realise the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will be no easy task like a walk in the park; it will not happen overnight, or through sheer fanfare,” he said.
“We must always keep a long-term perspective, remain mindful of potential risks, maintain strategic focus and determination, and ‘attain to the broad and great while addressing the delicate and minute’,” he said.

“Standing on the Tiananmen rostrum, one could only marvel at the extraordinary journey travelled by this major party, a journey of Chinese Communists leading the Chinese people … securing spectacular, epoch-making achievements over the past century,” he said.
“To accomplish our great mission, we must always remain true to our original aspiration,” Xi said.
