The late father of Chinese President Xi Jinping has been hailed as a spiritual icon by officials in Guangdong province for his role in contributing to the development of the Greater Bay Area, ahead of the 110th anniversary of his birth.
Party committees in major cities in the province have held recent meetings to follow up on provincial party chief Huang Kunming’s call earlier this month urging the province’s cadres to “carry forward the spirit of reform and opening up” of Xi Zhongxun.
“To promote the reform and opening up of Guangdong in the new era … we must carry forward the spirit of reform and opening up, and inherit the fine revolutionary traditions of the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries like Comrade Xi Zhongxun,” Huang was quoted by Nanfang Daily, Guangdong’s party newspaper.
