In the face of the Hong Kong’s intensifying Omicron outbreak in Hong Kong and the influx of imported cases, Guangdong has tightened pandemic control measures, including imposing stricter rules for truck drivers who travel between the city and the province.
By Thursday night, 882 truck drivers had been punished for violating cross-border control rules in Shenzhen, according to the deputy director of the Shenzhen Transport Bureau, Xu Wei. The drivers’ exemptions from entry quarantine were either suspended for 60 days or permanently cancelled.
