Cancer-on-a-chip pioneer Chen Weiqiang returns to China from New York University
Award-winning biomedical engineering professor leaves United States to join Nanjing University’s school of biomedical engineering

“Professor Chen has long been deeply engaged in top overseas universities, achieving remarkable results in cutting-edge fields such as cellular biomechanics and organ chips,” Nanjing University assistant president Jiang Tian said, while introducing him.
“He chose to join Nanjing University during his peak academic years and this heartfelt dedication and high level of trust are truly moving.”
The university held a welcome ceremony for Chen at its Suzhou campus on June 11. Previously, Chen was a professor and director of graduate education at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
Chen graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Nanjing University’s physics school in 2005. In 2008, he obtained a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
