‘22.5 million yuan’ sports car badly damaged in crash in Shanghai
Photographs taken at scene suggest limited production LaFerrari driven by teenager
A limited edition Ferrari has been badly damaged in a crash in Shanghai, according to a news website.
The LaFerrari crashed on a raised section of road at about 11pm on Tuesday night amid heavy rain, Eastday.com reported.
The car cost 22.5 million yuan (HK$28.5 million), according to the report.
No other car was involved and photographs taken at the scene suggest it may have been driven by a teenager.
There were no reports of serious injuries and traffic police are investigating.
The LaFerrari is a limited production Italian sports car and each costs at least US$1 million.
The accident in Shanghai comes after extensive media coverage of a crash between a Lamborghini and Ferrari in Beijing earlier this month.
The two sports car drivers, both in their 20s, were allegedly racing at speeds of about 160 km/h through the streets.
