Public outcry sparked by photographs posted on social media reportedly showing a woman lying injured on the floor after alleged assault in Guangdong province

Two Chinese armed policemen have been suspended after dining in a restaurant and allegedly assaulting the two owners when they were asked to pay for the meal, a public security department reported.
Photographs posted on social media of the alleged incident in Guangdong province sparked a public outcry.
One photograph shows a woman apparently lying injured on the floor of the restaurant in Jiangmen city and another of a woman’s shoe lying next to a pool of blood.
It is alleged that the two men were among a team of seven armed police from the city public security department, who went to Huangbian Jinxingyuan Restaurant for dinner on Wednesday evening and reportedly asked for the meal to be given to them “on credit”.
The quarrel and the alleged assault took place after the owners asked the policemen to pay for their meal.
Guangdong police were now investigating the alleged incident at the restaurant in Jiangmen city’s Pengjiang district, the city’s public security department said in an official statement.
