A primary schoolmaster in Hunan forced 30 of his students to kneel in the playground as punishment for making to much noise during lunch break, news website Rednet.cn reported.

The schoolmaster in Anren county, Binzhou city, said students played with paper planes and made a lot of noise in their dorms during lunch break, which was against school rules.

He then ordered other pupils on duty to bring the errant children to the playground and ordered them kneel and reflect on their behaviour. But the episode lasted only four minutes, the principal told local media.

The schoolmaster said he and other school leaders apologised to the students that evening and would do so to their parents soon.

Officials from the county’s education bureau are investigating the incident.
