13 people killed and four injured in dormitory blaze at Chinese residential building

Thirteen people died and four others were injured after a fire broke out in a dormitory at a residential building in the early hours of Thursday morning in China’s Henan province, mainland media reports.
Investigators believe the fire started when an electricity meter box burst into flames at about 3am on the first floor of the seven-storey building in the city of Zhengzhou, the news website Hnr.cn reported.
Firefighters battled for five hours before they were able to put out the fire, the website said.
Xinhua news agency said 13 people had been killed in the blaze and four others injured.
All the dead and injured were residents on the top floor of the building, which was made up of staff dormitories for a local hotel, the website quoted an investigator as saying.
Those killed in the blaze had died from burns and smoke inhalation, the investigator told the website.
