Chinese driver tips truck causing 320,000 yuan worth of damage after swerving to avoid dog
The dog escaped unharmed, but the vehicle’s co-driver was injured and the contents of the truck – fresh garlic shoots – were left showered across the Chongqing highway

A Chinese truck driver tipped the vehicle onto its side, injuring his co-driver and causing damage worth 320,000 yuan (HK$405,000), after swerving to avoid hitting a dog that had run into the road, mainland media reports.
The accident happened at 6am on Wednesday as the man was driving a refrigerated trailer full of fresh garlic shoots on the Chongqing Expressway in Sichuan province, the Chongqing Evening News said.
When the dog suddenly ran out in front of his vehicle the driver successfully braked and swerved to avoid hitting the animal.
However, he lost control of the vehicle and it tipped onto its side, crashed through the central reservation and came to a stop blocking several lanes of the highway.
The newspaper said the vehicle’s co-driver was injured in the accident, but the extent of his injuries were not known.
The doors of the truck also broke open when the vehicle overturned, showering the garlic shoots across the highway.
“Fortunately there wasn’t much traffic on the road at the time otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable,” the driver told the newspaper.
