Chinese customs official exposed online by jilted mistress is charged with accepting bribes

A customs official in Shenzhen, China’s special economic zone next to Hong Kong, has been charged with accepting bribes after he was exposed online by his jilted mistress, a local newspaper reported.

Huang Zhouzhou, former deputy head of the inspection division, was formally put under investigation after one of his mistresses accused him online for being a womaniser, the New Express reported.

The mistress said she got to know Huang when he visited her workplace, and they started living together in an apartment Huang rented for her in January, 2013.

A year later Huang started avoiding her and began seeing her colleague. The two women had a row in which the first mistress slashed the second on the face.

The incident went viral online and the first mistress wrote online and accused Huang of “toying with women”.

The Shenzhen customs bureau announced in April last year that Huang had been suspended on suspicion of maintaining extramarital relationships and taking bribes.

Prosecutors allege that he had accepted bribes worth 2 million yuan (HK$2.5 million) in 2011 not to punish a Shenzhen company that had been evading paying duties.
