A woman in China’s Liaoning province had just settled into bed and was about to fall asleep last Monday when she suddenly felt something cold moving under her blanket near her body, according to mainland media.
Liu Xiang peered down and got the shock of her life when she saw a one-metre snake trying to cosy up to her, the Huashang Morning News reported on Sunday.
“A snake!” she screamed. “And I could hear the sound of the snake,” she was quoted by the paper as saying.
She bolted out of her house in Shenyang and called the police. Officer Zhu Houbin told the newspaper they tried various methods to catch the snake, which was not poisonous. “We tried to catch it with a wooden stick but that did not work,” Zhu said.
Firefighters arrived and wearing thick gloves managed to grab the snake, which was later released into the wild, the report said.
