Drought turns Chinese lake into sea of green

Drought and high temperatures have virtually dried out a lake in eastern China and turned into grassland, a news website reported.

Lack of rain in Mengyin county in Shandong province has also dried up stretches of nearby rivers, according to Iqilu.com.

Water levels in reservoirs in the county near Linyi are alarmingly low, the article said.

Typhoon Chan-hom brought wet weather to Weihai earlier in July, but 16 other cities in the province are in need of rain, according to the report.
