Student at Beijing university admits killing classmate after trying to rape her

A student at a Beijing university has admitted to killing a woman classmate after trying to rape her, according to the city’s police.

Officers detained the 23-year-old suspect early on Tuesday and were investigating the case, the statement on the police’s social media account read.

The victim and the accused were identified as students at the Communication University of China.

The university said the local public security bureau informed them a film studies student, Zhou Yunlu, had been found dead in a residential area in Chaoyang district.

A friend of Zhou’s told reporters at The Mirror that Zhou had promised to help the suspect with acting out a scene on Sunday in a film he was making.

She was supposed to show up at a wedding after the shoot but never did.
