A Chinese aficianado of military vehicles has finally realised his dream of building his own armoured car, local media reports.

Shi Yanqiang, who owns a car accessories shop in Shandong province, spent every spare moment – and about 30,000 yuan (HK$36,000) – over the past seven months modifying a derelict light truck with used iron sheets and aluminium panels into a light tank.

Shi said his obession with military vehicles was the result of five years’ service in the People’s Liberation Army.
