Chinese passenger takes rail operator to court after she was made to pay again for lost ticket

A student is taking a railways bureau in southwestern China to court after she was forced to repurchase her lost ticket for a long train journey, state media reported.
Chen Huiyi said that when she realised she had lost it she showed the train inspector a note confirming the transaction plus a photograph of the ticket, but she still had to buy a new one, the state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
Chen, who is a student at Zhejiang University in eastern China, said this was unfair as the rail operator clearly had a record of her purchasing the original ticket.
She is taking the Kunming railway bureau to court as she was travelling from Zhejiang to Yunnan province when the dispute arose, the report said.
Chen told Xinhua there had been many similar cases so she decided to take legal action.
The rail bureau said it was preparing its case.
