A wealthy businessman and his well-heeled friends in southwest China regularly drive to parts of Chongqing in their luxury cars, including a Porsche and Mercedes-Benz, to pick up rubbish, according to a newspaper report. Businessman Zhong Congrong has been picking up litter for an hour in the morning and one in the afternoon for more than eight months, the Chongqing Evening News reported. He has enlisted his friends to join in, including business leaders working in the catering, construction and beauty sectors, the report said. Zhong owns several companies in Chongqing, the report said. Members of the group were quoted as saying that their efforts were not just for show and they believed their example and influence were increasingly heeded in the city.
