Videos of a woman quarrelling with a man whom she accused of breaking her expensive mobile at an airport in Shanghai has raised eyebrows online, a Chinese news portal reported. The two clips show the pair quarrelling outside a first class VIP lounge at Shanghai Pudong International Airport after she accused the other passenger making her drop a supposedly expensive “rose gold iPhone”, according to Guancha.cn. The two video clips were uploaded early on Monday by microbloggers claiming to be witnesses were reposted for thousands of times within hours. They man bumped into her outside the lounge and the woman dropped the phone by accident, the microbloggers said. The woman is seen saying that her “rose gold iPhone bought from the US” was broken but refuses to let the man check it even after he apologises. She then tries to grab the man’s mobile phone. “I can’t even tell which brand you are using. It must be a Chinese brand,” she was heard saying. “How dare you use the VIP lounge using a Chinese brand?” She then asks the man to pay her 50,000 yuan (HK$61,000) as compensation. Many microbloggers criticised the woman for worshipping foreign brands, while others cynically questioned whether the event was staged to promote the Chinese brand even though it is not mentioned by the pair.
