Chinese tycoon’s son offers unhappy cinemagoer ‘free popcorn for life’

A woman has apparently been offered free popcorn for life at a cinema chain owned by China’s richest man after she complained on social media that she was not given a full portion of the snack at one of its movie theatres.

The woman had complained that when she visited a Wanda Cinema her box of popcorn was only 80 per cent full.

The company is controlled by the Chinese tycoon Wang Jianlin.

His son Wang Sicong responded to the post about an hour later.

“In the future, when you go to the cinema just say my name. You will enjoy a lifetime of free popcorn,” he wrote.

It is not clear if the younger Wang was serious in his offer or only speaking in jest.

The sometimes outspoken Wang got into hot water earlier this year after he jokingly said his main criteria for a new girlfriend was that she be buxom.

Other social media users wrote hoping they would receive the same offer of free popcorn from Wang.

The social media post did not give the woman’s real name or give details of which branch of the cinema chain she was complaining about.
