Police in Shenzhen have arrested three people for damaging commercial vehicles, after taxi drivers in the city launched a massive protest against ride-hailing apps.
Three suspects were apprehended, with one under criminal detention as of Monday evening, according to the Shenzhen public security bureau.
The police also warned that further action would be taken.
The arrests came after Shenzhen taxi drivers went on strike on the first working day of the new year, leaving the Guangdong city short of taxis, especially at the airport, border checkpoints, transport terminals and hospitals.
The collective action also saw taxi drivers on the road reject passengers on Monday. But most appeared to have resumed operation by yesterday.
