A man suspected of abducting a young girl in eastern China returned her within hours after discovering his photo circulating on social media, a newspaper reports. The 10-year-old girl was walking home from school in a small village in Xinchang county in Zhejiang province on Friday afternoon when the man approached her on his motorbike, according to the Qianjiang Evening News . The suspect, surnamed Ye and aged 49, offered her a ride home, which she accepted, the report said. The parents of the girl became alarmed when she didn’t arrive home at the usual time of around 3.30pm and contacted the police. Investigating officers reviewed the surveillance camera footage from the area and saw girl getting onto the bike. Meanwhile, another group of officers were checking footage of other CCTV cameras in the village with the help of residents, who pointed out the suspect arriving with a group of men, according to the report. An image of Ye was circulated on WeChat and quickly forwarded around by residents. Ye saw the image online and fearing he would be caught, contacted the girl’s parents, saying they could find her at a bus terminal at about 7pm the same day. The police had already tracked down his rented apartment and were waiting to take him into custody.
