‘That’s disgusting!’: woman cutting toenails on subway train latest bad behaviour on transport system to incur wrath of China’s internet users

Photographs of a woman cutting her toenails on a Shanghai subway train have gone viral on social media, the latest incident of perceived rude behaviour on public transport to be heavily criticised online in China.

The middle-aged woman, dressed in a bright yellow coat, is seen cutting her toenails on Friday, putting her bare right foot up on a seat.

The passengers next to her are seen staring at their phones, apparently oblivious.

The pictures were taken by a social media user from the Yangpu district of the city.

She wrote a caption saying, “Line 12...this smell...tsktsk”.

The pictures created distaste among internet users.
