People have queued around the clock outside a supermarket in eastern China after it started handing out free bags of rice, according to a news website report. The store in Binzhou in Shandong province is giving the rice away as a promotion for the Lunar New Year holiday, 163.com reported. Some have queued in the evenings during the give-away in recent days when temperatures have fallen to minus five degrees Celsius. The supermarket has been distributing the rice from 7am to 11pm. It has so far handed out 10,000 bags of rice, the report said. Similar scenes were seen in the city in May when a shopping mall gave away rice and cooking oil in a promotion.
