Developer faces charges after dozens killed in building collapse during Taiwan earthquake

The developer of a building that collapsed during the earthquake in southern Taiwan on Saturday is to be prosecuted for allegedly using substandard building materials.
At least thirty-nine people are known to have died in the earthquake that struck early on Saturday.
Most were killed in the Wei-guan Golden Dragon building in Tainan.

Developer Lin Minghui is to face criminal charges, the United Daily News reported.
Two other construction company officials are also to be prosecuted on similar charges, but the report did not say if they worked for Lin.

Commercial cooking oil containers were found packed into wall cavities in the 17-storey apartment building after its collapse.
