Kim Jong who? Chinese restaurant owner discovers he resembles North Korean strongman
A restaurant owner in Southern China has gained quick fame due to his similar appearance to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, a local newspaper reports.
The 32-year-old “fake Kim”, whose real name is Zhang Daiming, was not aware of his similarity with the North Korean strongman until a young customer from a nearby secondary school in Guangzhou, Guangdong province pointed it out two years ago, the Yangcheng Evening News reported.
“At the time I didn’t even know who Kim Jong-un was,” Zhang said. “I searched for Kim’s photos online and realised we did look a bit alike.”

Zhang said he did not mimic Kim on purpose as his body shape and hairstyle were already that way.
Previously Zhang’s fame was confined to the city’s Xiaomao district where he runs his restaurant, but it took off during Chinese New Year holiday when he decided to go sightseeing around the city instead of returning to his hometown in Shaanxi province.
While strolling around Baiyun Lake Park, many tourists asked to have their photos taken with Zhang, any a number of these went viral after being posted on social media.
Zhang has now been dubbed “the Guangzhou Kim Jong-un” by internet users.
