Nightmare outcome: Chinese man wakes up covered in blood after biting wrist while dreaming of eating pig’s trotters

A Chinese man had such a vivid dream about eating a dish of pig’s trotters that he woke up covered in blood after mistakenly biting his wrist, mainland media reports.

The cousin of the unnamed man took him to hospital on Wednesday, but also called in the police after suspecting that he had tried to commit suicide, the Qianjiang Evening News reported on Friday.

The man, who was staying at the home of his cousin in the county of Longyou, in eastern Zhejiang province, denied trying to take his own life.

He told police he had a history of sleepwalking and while dreaming of eating a dish of pig’s trotters – popular in China and around the world – had bitten his wrist after mistaking it for the food.

The report did not give further details about the age of the man, or how badly injured he was.
