Oops! Student in borrowed Cadillac ruins the day for a BMW and Benz in southern China
Caddie’s owner faces repair bills of about 100,000 yuan as the car’s insurance had expired
A university student in southern China lost control of a borrowed Cadillac and collided with two other luxury cars, causing an estimated 100,000 yuan (HK$118,000) in damage, a mainland newspaper reports.
The student, surnamed Chen, was driving the red Cadillac in bustling Zhuhai in Guangdong province when she ran into a BMW and a Mercedes-Benz last month, the New Express reported on Friday.
No one was injured in the accident.

Chen, who studies at a university in Jiangxi province, was visiting Zhuhai and had borrowed the American-made car, which was badly damaged in the accident, from a friend who was also visiting the city, the report said.
It’s not sure who will ultimately pay the repair bills, however. Since the insurance for the Cadillac had expired, police ruled that its owner, surnamed Zhao, had to first shoulder the compensation to the other car owners, whose cars were not extensively damaged, but are extremely costly to repair.
The owner can ask Chen to repay him, but as she is a student, she has no means to do so.
