A Chinese man has been arrested after reportedly stealing more than HK$13,000 in cash from a sleeping airline passenger during a flight from Macau to the Thai capital of Bangkok, media reports.

The suspect, identified only by his surname, Yang, allegedly took banknotes in renminbi, Hong Kong dollars and Thai baht from the unsuspecting passenger during an AirAsia flight, the Chinese microblog website of Thailand Headlines reported on Thursday.

Thai police later arrested the suspect and recovered the money in Bangkok, the report said.

It said the passenger had been followed by the suspect after leaving a casino in Macau.

However, the report did not give any further details about where the suspect lived in China, where the passenger came from, or when the alleged theft took place.
