A woman from eastern China had to use a truck to deposit 540,000 yuan (HK$644,000) in small change at a bank, according to a news website report.

The woman said it took two workers more than an hour to unload the bags of coins at a bank in Dongyang in Zhejiang province, Zjol.com.cn reported.

The woman had 1.1 million yuan in coins, but decided to deposit a smaller amount as she had found it so difficult to find a bank to accept them, the report said. Many lenders refused to take the deposit, according to the article.

The woman’s husband runs a firm in Dongyang and the 1 yuan and 50 cent coins were paid by a bus company to honour a loan.
