Chinese man survives after falling 60 metres to bottom of cave

A farmer has survived after falling to the bottom of a 60-metre deep cave in southern China, according to a news agency report.

The man suffered only scratches after the accident near Tongren in Guizhou province on Tuesday, the China News Service reported.

The man, who was not named, was quoted as saying that he went for a walk after dinner and fell into a cave opening by accident.

He was unconscious after the fall, but when he came to the next morning he found his mobile phone had a signal and was able to call his family.

Farmers went down the cave to find him before firefighters arrived, the report said.
