Double trouble: Chinese identical twin brides and grooms agree to a little cosmetic surgery to solve problem of who married whom

Two identical twin Chinese brothers and their identical twin wives have agreed to have minor cosmetic surgery to help solve the problem of exactly who is married to whom, mainland media reports.

The couples’ identity problems first started when the brothers, Zhao Xin and Zhao Xun, who come from a village near the city of Yuncheng, in northwestern China’s Shanxi province, began dating identical twin sisters, Yun Fei and Yun Yang, from a village 10km away, news portal Chinanews.com reported.

The couples were married during this year’s Chinese Lunar New Year holiday, with Zhao Xin wedding Yun Fei, and his brother tying the knot with the other sister.

On the wedding day the two couples needed to double check carefully – by asking who was who – to ensure that they were not marrying a wrong partner, the report said.

However, the problems continued after they were married when one of the brothers went for a walk after dinner and found himself holding hands with his brother’s wife by mistake.

On Thursday doctors at a hospital in Shanghai accepted a request by the couples on Thursday to make some “slight adjustments” to some parts of their faces so that they will be able to distinguish one another more easily, the report said.
