Chinese modern dictionary sets two Guinness World Records – as globe’s best-selling dictionary and book

More than 567 million copies of the Xinhua Dictionary, published by The Commercial Press, had been sold around the world up to July 28 last year

China’s first modern dictionary, the Xinhua Dictionary has just set two Guinness World Records – after becoming both the world’s most popular dictionary and the best-selling book, mainland media reports.

The dictionary, published by China’s influential publishing house, The Commercial Press, had sold more than 567 million copies around the world up to July 28 last year, Xinhua reported.

The Guinness World Records announced the two records in London on Tuesday.

The book was the first modern dictionary to be published in China.
