Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned – and so it proved when a four-times married Chinese man, who failed to pay alimony to one wife, was investigated and discovered to have twice committed bigamy, mainland media reports.

Chen Liangtao, 49, from Henan province, who has been jailed for 22 months, wed the four women between March 2008 and August 2012 after meeting them on a matchmaking website, The Beijing News reported on Friday.

The People’s Court of Haidian district, in Beijing, found he was still legally married at the time he tied the knot with his second wife, from Shandong province, in March 2008, and his fourth wife, from Henan province, in August 2012.

Chen identified himself as a “successful entrepreneur” when he met the four women on the mainland matchmaking website who would later became his wives.
