Three monks in east China have been expelled from a monastery for brawling after a video of the incident went viral online, domestic media reports.
The one-minute video, apparently filmed with a smartphone, shows two monks in brown robes grappling, while a third monk, dressed in yellow, lands blows as he circles around them, according to ThePaper.cn.
A message appeared on WeChat, a popular social messaging service, on Tuesday, purportedly written by the chief monk of Ningguo Temple in Yangzhou in Jiangsu province. It said a fight had broken out on Sunday and the temple authority had decided to expel the three.
