A passenger on a Chinese airliner has been arrested for stealing about US$1,000 from another person travelling on the aircraft, according to a newspaper report.
The suspect is accused of taking the cash during a flight from Sanya on Hainan island to Beijing, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

Details of the investigation were reported live on social media by a Chinese writer, Zheng Yuanjie, who was travelling on the plane on Friday, the article said.
Police identified the suspect quickly because they tried to leave their seat while everyone else obeyed instructions and remained seated after the plane touched down, a crew member told Zheng.
Thieves are often among the first to leave their seats because they are afraid of getting caught, the crew member was quoted by Zheng as saying.

The airport confirmed the incident and said the suspect was under interrogation by airport police.
