Hysterical Chinese pupil collapses on ground and threatens to kill himself after poor performance in ‘gaokao’ university entrance exam
Boy had to be sedated after taking part of the exam, which puts huge pressure on youngsters in China each year
A teenager who took part of China’s gruelling, annual national university entrance exams, or gaokao, collapsed on the ground and threatened to kill himself as he felt he had performed so badly, a news website reported.
The boy had to be sedated after he took part of the examinations in Qufu in eastern Shandong province on Tuesday and became hysterical, Iqilu.com reported.
The teenager, who was not named, had just taken a Chinese language test, the report said.
He was filmed after leaving the test venue, shouting: “I don’t want to live anymore! Please let me go kill myself. I didn’t complete my composition!”
As he lay on the ground his mother tried to comfort him, saying “it doesn’t matter”. He replied: “No. I must kill myself.”
