Chinese building worker survives after steel bar skewers his body from groin to skull

A Chinese construction worker survived after a 1½-metre long steel bar pierced his body and came out through his skull following a fall, a newspaper reported.

The 46-year-old man fell five metres while working at a building site near Jinan in Shandong province on Tuesday, the Jinan Times reported.

The steel bar, which was standing upright, entered his groin and pierced through to the top of his skull.

It took surgeons seven hours to remove the bar from his body, the report said.
