Chinese students hurt in rush to escape heatwave in air-conditioned college library
Students were injured at a university in central China after they rushed into an air-conditioned library during a heatwave in the area, according to a news a news website report.
Students at the Zhengzhou Institute Of Aeronautical Industry Management in Henan province had complained that it was unbearable to stay in their dormitories with no electric fans or air conditioners, Hnr.cn reported.
The report did not say how many were injured in the rush to get into the library or the seriousness of their injuries.
One blogger in Zhengzhou, however, wrote on social media that thousands of students were waiting outside the library before it opened at 8am on Monday.
“We can only come to the library, but there are so many students coming that you can hardly find a seat, even if you squeezed in,” one student was quoted as saying on the news website.
