Young Chinese woman falls pregnant twice in three months thanks to dodgy condoms
At one point she incorrectly suspected her boyfriend’s mother of sabotage in the hope of getting grandchildren
An 18-year-old woman in western China who underwent two abortions in three months has blamed her accidental pregnancies on condoms bought from a local grocery, mainland media reports.
The woman from Chengdu in Sichuan province said she was very confused after becoming pregnant twice as she and her boyfriend had turned to condoms for birth control, according to the West China City Daily.
A close inspection of the packet found that the condoms had been pierced. The woman even questioned boyfriends’ mother if that she might have sabotaged the condoms in the hope of getting grandchildren, which the mother categorically denied.
On closer inspection, the couple discovered that the shabby quality of the condoms were to blame – in a box of 12 condoms, 10 were found with tiny holes, the report said.
The grocery is not licensed to sell condoms and local health care authorities have launched an investigation. The condoms could be counterfeit products, the report indicated.
